Whitney Houston Documentary Alleges The Singer Was Sexually Abused As A Child

Whitney Houston was molested by cousin Dee Dee Warwick, according to the singer’s brother, who makes the claim in a new documentary that has the estate’s blessing. “Whitney,” directed by Oscar winner Kevin Macdonald contains the allegation by Gary Garland that Dionne Warwick’s younger sister molested him as well. Dee Dee Warwick, a soul and R&B singer who first recorded “You’re No Good” in 1963, died in 2008 at age 63.  According to the film, Houston told her aunt, Pat Houston, but kept it a secret from her mother, singer Cissy Houston.  Houston’s longtime assistant, Mary Jones, supports Garland’s allegation — saying in the movie that the experience was a driving force behind Houston’s discomfort with her own sexuality, which was described by many people close to her as “fluid.”  “I think she was ashamed. She would wonder if she did something” to make the molestation happen, Jones says of her former boss.  “Whitney” premiered Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival in France. It’s due in theaters July 6.
