The Kinks frontman Ray Davies said in a new interview that the band is getting back together and is working on a new album. Davies made the comments Monday during an interview, and confirmed that he was meeting up with Kinks drummer Mick Avory to begin working on a new album inspired by the Rolling Stones. Davies said: “we’ve been talking about it because I’ve got all these songs that I wrote, then the band – not broke up, we parted company – and I think it’s kind of an appropriate time to do it.” The Kinks were founded in 1963 by Davies, his brother Dave, Avory and bassist Pete Quaife who died in 2010. The group was known for songs such as “You Really Got Me,” “All Day and All of the Night,” “A Well-Respected Man,” “Waterloo Sunset” and “Lola” among others. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 before splitting up that same decade. Davies is set to release a new album, Our Country: Americana II on Friday, his second collaboration with the Jayhawks.
