Azealia Banks has launched a GoFundMe campaign to sue actor Russell Crowe, who she says spit on her at a Las Vegas hotel in October 2016. Over the past three days, Banks has raised just over $2,000 out of the $100,000 goal. In the fundraiser’s description, Banks writes, “Russell Crowe spit on me at a party in 2016 and denied it, had a group of people gaslight me causing irreparable damage to my acting career and my reputation as well as loads of emotional damage.” Banks promises to donate the money raised through the campaign to charities dedicated to cleaning up oceans. Banks’ battery case against Crowe was dropped in December 2016. According to the DA’s office, Crowe’s actions at the time were “justified to prevent the imminent violence threatened by Banks” and that his alleged spitting was “incidental to preventing more serious threatened violence.” Meanwhile, Banks is working on her next album, Fantasea II, which is expected to arrive sometime later this year.
