Ty Outlaw Will Play For Virginia Tech vs. Duke Despite Marijuana Charge

Virginia Tech guard Ty Outlaw will play Friday in their Sweet 16 game against Duke, after Outlaw was charged with possession of marijuana.

Virginia Tech Coach Buzz Williams said in a statement that the school hired an outside agency to administer a drug test to Outlaw Wednesday, and the test came back negative. Marijuana was apparently found in Outlaw’s dormitory in Blacksburg, Virginia, while the team was in San Jose, California, for the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament last weekend. Police found it after obtaining a search warrant due to a supposed “disturbance.”

No. 4 Virginia Tech faces top-seeded Duke in the Sweet 16 Friday night at Capital One Arena in the District.
