Emily Blunt stars in the official trailer for Netflix’s Pain Hustlers.

The trailer shows Liza Drake (played by Blunt) landing a job from Pete Brenner (Chris Evans) at a failing pharma startup in a Florida strip mall.  Drake says at one point in the trailer: “There’s nothing so inspiring as sheer desperation” as she works as sales executive at a company marketing a new kind of opioid drug offering pain relief to cancer patients. However, the drug is helping spark the U.S. opioid epidemic, and Drake and Brenner have to deal with their increasingly unhinged boss, played by Andy Garcia.

Netflix will start streaming Pain Hustlers on Oct. 27 after it opens in select theaters a week earlier. The streamer paid around $50 million for the movie at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival market; the world premiere for the film was at the Toronto Film Festival in September.

Also starring in Pain Hustlers is Catherine O’Hara, Jay Duplass, Brian d’Arcy James and Chloe Coleman, which is written by Wells Tower (The True American) and is produced by Lawrence Grey through his Grey Matter Productions banner and Wychwood Pictures.
