ALLEN PARK, Aug. 18, 2025 ~ As the Detroit Lions enter the final week of training camp, head coach Dan Campbell provided updates on several players dealing with injuries. Defensive end Ahmed Hassanein will miss time due to a pectoral injury. “You hate it for those guys first,” Campbell said. “Nobody feels worse than they do.” Meanwhile, cornerback Khalil Dorsey has begun individual and group work, with hopes of participating more fully by the end of the week. Safety Kerby Joseph continues to manage knee irritation, and while the team doesn’t consider it a major issue, they are taking a cautious approach.

Campbell emphasized the importance of versatility across the roster, especially in the defensive backfield. Players like Rock Ya-Sin, Brian Branch, and Amik Robertson have shown the ability to play multiple roles, which gives the coaching staff flexibility. That kind of flexibility is playing a major role in how the Lions shape their depth chart and prepare for the season ahead.

(CONTINUED) Looking ahead to the joint practice with the Houston Texans later this week, Campbell said the format will be similar to previous sessions, with a few tweaks to focus on situational football. “We are going to get 40 to 50 plays in, which will be good for guys,” he said. The Lions plan to emphasize second-and-long and third-down scenarios to test execution on both sides of the ball.

The offensive line remains a focal point, especially in enabling the vertical passing game. “It doesn’t matter how good Goff is, if we can’t protect him, we will struggle,” Campbell said. As camp nears its conclusion, the Lions remain focused on development, health management, and preparing for the season with a roster that continues to show promise.
