A convicted felon from Fulton is charged with second degree murder and three other felonies for Sunday night’s horrific triple shooting at the Greens apartments on Clark lane.

Boone County prosecutors have also charged 23-year-old James Lamont Caldwell Jr. with two counts of first degree assault and armed criminal action and he’s being held without bond. CPD investigators say one of the three people shot Sunday night has died, and she’s identified as 21-year-old Brianna Hawkins of Fulton. The Columbia Police Department’s three-page probable cause statement says she suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

CPD says the other two victims have suffered life-threatening injuries, with court documents quoting one as telling an officer on-scene “please help me, I don’t want to die.” One of the victims was shot and stabbed, according to court documents. The probable cause statement says video footage from a neighboring apartment shows someone chasing another while shooting at them.

Boone County prosecutors describe Caldwell as a flight risk and a danger to the community, in a court filing.

CPD says the triple shooting happened at the Greens at about 9 pm Sunday. The court documents quote the suspect as telling police he doesn’t remember what happened. Caldwell is quoted in the court documents as saying he took Xanax and then woke up in the street with blood on his hands.
