The controversial proposed Ashford Place residential project and a proposed $800,000 renovation at city hall are on Columbia’s city council agenda for Tuesday night’s meeting.

The council is scheduled to vote tonight on the proposed Ashford Place project, which involves 77 single-family attached dwelling units near Sagemoor drive. The Columbia city council’s eight-page packet notes some residents from the Brooks oppose the plan, due to induced traffic from additional dwellings. Opponents also have safety concerns.

The council is scheduled to hold a public hearing tonight on the proposal to remodel 2,300 square feet of the former Daniel Boone Tavern lobby at city hall. The $800,000 project calls for seven new transaction stations with ballistic barriers between city staff and customers. City manager De’Carlon Seewood says funding would come from previously allocated general fund revenue.
