The warning area includes Columbia, Jefferson City, Ashland, Boonville and Fulton. National Weather Service (NWS) St. Louis meteorologist Chris Kimble tells 939 the Eagle that Columbia and Jefferson City could see six to 12 inches of snow in the winter storm. Snow is expected to begin falling early Saturday morning.

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) director Ed Hassinger briefed reporters Thursday afternoon in Jefferson City, saying the entire MoDOT team will be fully deployed during the winter storm. He’s urging you to avoid travel during the storm unless you have to drive. Director Hassinger says most of Missouri will be impacted by the snow and says it will cause significant impacts.

But he emphasizes you have time to prepare now.
