Boone County Presiding Commissioner Kip Kendrick, who graduated from CC in 2006, tells 939 the Eagle that Boone County would not be what it is today without Columbia College:

“Just a remarkable institution how it has adapted over the years. Being a leader in online education, education for military across installations around the United States,” Commissioner Kendrick says.

Retiring Columbia College (CC) president Dr. David Russell praises the community and elected officials for the big turnout at the 175th anniversary celebration of CC and Charter Day. Dr. Russell tells 939 the Eagle that it was a great event and is pleased elected officials attended as well:

“Leaders here some of whom graduated from here represents the breadth of our alumni, almost 100,000 of them. And most of whom wind up staying in central Missouri and become part of the economy and way of life here,” President Russell says.

The celebration also included the Spirit Squad, a performance from the Jane Froman singers and a history lesson from CC history professor Dr. Brad Lookingbill. There was also punch and birthday cake.
