A Columbia man with a lengthy criminal record has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, after admitting he killed his girlfriend on Christmas Day 2023.
40-year-old Jeffrey Skaggs has pleaded guilty to second degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child. Boone County Circuit Judge Brouck Jacobs sentences Skaggs to 30 years. Court documents say the 41-year-old woman was strangled to death while she was holding her one-year-old child. The horrific murder happened in the 6000 block of East O’Rear road.

Court documents also say the woman’s cell phone captured a portion of the incident.
