On Monday the Minnesota Vikings announced it re-signed 15-year NFL veteran cornerback Terence Newman. Newman will play his fourth season in Minneapolis; and 16th overall. In his three seasons with the Vikings, Newman has compiled 110 tackles, 25 passes defensed and five interceptions. Newman, who will turn 40 in September, has only missed one game during his stint with Minnesota. Newman will also reunite with head coach Mike Zimmer. Newman will now be coached by Zimmer in 10 of his 16 professional seasons, going back to his rookie year in Dallas where Zimmer served as the defensive coordinator. Newman will also be the oldest active defensive player in the NFL and ranks second among all active players with 42 career interceptions.
